چکیده
Objectives: To evaluate the effect of auricular vagus nerve stimulation (VNS) applied in addition to ischemic compression and stretching exercises on pain, trigger point (TP) sensitivity, grip strength, quality life autonomic functions patients with myofascial pain syndrome (MPS). Methods: Sixty patients, who had neck met diagnostic MPS criteria Travell Simons were included study. The subjects randomly divided into VNS group (n = 30) or control 30). Each performed 10 sessions TP (5 days/week). Ten 30-minute long added treatment group. Pain severity [Visual Analogue Scale (VAS)], sensitivity (algometer), strength (Jamar dynamometer), [Short Form-36 (SF-36)] function [Composite Autonomic Symptom Scale-31 (Compass-31)] evaluated before after treatment. Results: VAS, algometer Jamar measurements showed significant improvement both groups. A statistically was found orthostatic intolerance, secretomotor pupillomotor subscales Compass-31 scale following (p < 0.05) while no difference observed > 0.05). all parameters SF-36 scale, physical function, social functionality changes algometer, scores subscale higher than 0.001, p 0.001 0.011, respectively). Conclusions: It can be argued that increases effectiveness MPS. Further detailed studies are needed which alone combination other treatments is examined physiological mechanisms investigated.

Efficacy of Low-Level Laser Versus Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation for Treatment of Myofascial Pain Syndrome: A Clinical Trial
Background and Aim: Myofascial pain syndrome (MPS) is the most common cause of facial muscle pain. This study sought to assess the efficacy of transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation (TENS) and low-level laser (LLL) for treatment of MPS in comparison with a sham laser control group. Materials and Methods: In this randomized controlled clinical trial, 55 MPS patients between 18-60 years old ...
متن کاملAssessment of Brainstem Function with Auricular Branch of Vagus Nerve Stimulation in Parkinson’s Disease
BACKGROUND The efferent dorsal motor nucleus of the vagal nuclei complex may degenerate early in the course of Parkinson's disease (PD), while efferent nucleus ambiguous, the principal source of parasympathetic vagal neurons innervating the heart, and afferent somatosensory nuclei remain intact. OBJECTIVE To obtain neurophysiological evidence related to this pattern, we tested processing of a...
متن کاملEffects of vagus nerve stimulation in visceral pain model.
Visceral pain is an important therapeutic problem. A number of studies have established that abdominal vagal afferents modulate somatic pain behavior. Although it is not clear if vagal afferents transmit nociceptive information, a change in their activity can increase or decrease nociceptive transmission in visceral pain. Aims of the present study were to determine whether the subdiaphragmatic ...
متن کاملEffectiveness of Auricular Electrical Stimulation in Treatment of Patients with Temporomandibular Dysfunction Pain
Electrical stimulation of the auricle (auriculotherapy) is considered an effective analgesic technique for chronic pain. The main purpose of the present study was to determine the effectiveness of auriculotherapy on myofacial pain due to tempromandibular dysfunction. Using double blind evaluation method, 16 patients, 11 study and 5 control groups, were utilized for this project. Auricular point...
